New Launch: Mini Laser Rangefinder Modules Boost UAV Precise Sensing

In mid-September, ERDI TECH, a company specializing in the R&D and production of laser ranging modules, launched two laser ranging modules built on its self-developed 1535nm MINI100 laser. With ultra-high integration, excellent environmental adaptability, and accurate ranging performance, these two modules have garnered widespread attention in the market. They provide lightweight and highly reliable sensing solutions for equipment across multiple fields such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), security monitoring, and industrial inspection, further solidifying ERDI TECH’s technological advantages in the laser ranging sector.

Shared Core Performance: Laying a Solid Foundation for Precise Sensing

Both laser ranging modules are centered on ERDI TECH’s independently developed MINI100 1535nm laser. This laser features a compact size (2.5g), high stability, and low power consumption, laying a solid foundation for the modules’ performance and integration. In terms of core parameters, the two products maintain high consistency and reach industry-leading standards:

Safety and Precision Combined

  • The laser wavelength is stably maintained at 1535±5nm, complying with the Class Ⅰ (IEC 60825-1) eye safety standard, which protects human eyes during operation.

  • With a divergence angle of ≤0.6mrad, laser energy of ≥100μJ, and a field of view (FOV) of ~7.4mrad, it enables accurate target locking and ranging.

  • The ranging accuracy is stably kept at ±1m, with an accuracy rate of ≥98% and a false alarm rate of ≤1%, ensuring high reliability of output data.

Outstanding Adaptability and Responsiveness

  • Supports UART (TTL 3.3V) interface and is compatible with DC 3~5V wide-voltage power supply, allowing quick integration into various equipment control systems and reducing integration difficulty.

  • The startup time is ≤350ms, and the response time after startup is ≤20ms, enabling rapid entry into the working state to meet the real-time sensing needs of equipment.

Excellent Ranging Capability

In an environment with visibility >8km, both modules can achieve the following ranging performance:

  • ≥4000m for building targets with 60% reflectivity;

  • ≥3000m for 2.3×2.3m targets with 30% reflectivity;

  • ≥1500m for 0.5×1.7m targets with 30% reflectivity;

  • Even for small 0.2×0.3m targets with 30% reflectivity, the ranging distance can reach ≥800m.

This easily covers medium and long-distance sensing scenarios.

Differentiated Ranging Frequencies: Adapting to Diverse Scenario Needs

High-Frequency Model (1Hz~10Hz)

With a ranging frequency of 1Hz~10Hz, under 5V power supply:

  • Power consumption is ≤0.9W when operating at 1Hz;

  • Power consumption is <1.5W when operating at 10Hz;

  • Peak power consumption is <3W.

It balances efficient ranging and low energy consumption, making it suitable for scenarios requiring large-scale and high-frequency monitoring, such as long-distance security patrols and large-scale infrastructure surveying and mapping.

Standard-Frequency Model (1Hz~3Hz)

With a ranging frequency set at 1Hz~3Hz, under 5V power supply:

  • Operating power consumption is ≤0.9W;

  • Peak power consumption is ≤3W.

It has greater energy-saving advantages in low-frequency ranging scenarios, meeting the needs of scenarios such as urban UAV inspections and small-to-medium-sized site surveying and mapping.

Ultra-Lightweight Design + Super Strong Environmental Adaptability: Breaking Through Scenario Limitations

Both modules pursue a "small yet powerful" design concept, perfectly adapting to various miniaturized equipment. Their weight is ≤14±1g, and dimensions are only 27×25×15.5mm (L×W×H). For UAVs with limited payload capacity (e.g., <2kg class UAVs), they barely add any load pressure, can be easily integrated into the UAV body, and do not affect the original flight performance of the equipment.

Meanwhile, the modules have passed rigorous environmental reliability tests and possess strong adaptability:

  • Operating temperature range covers -40~+70℃, and storage temperature reaches -45~+70℃, ensuring stable operation in harsh environments such as frigid plateaus and hot deserts.

  • Shock resistance reaches 1200g/1ms, capable of withstanding vibrations and impacts during equipment takeoff, landing, and transportation.

  • Can withstand a vibration environment of 5~50~5Hz (1 octave/min, 2.5g), adapting to scenarios such as high-speed UAV flight and high-frequency operation of industrial equipment.

In addition, the mean time between failures (MTBF) of both modules exceeds 1500h, significantly reducing equipment maintenance costs and ensuring long-term stable operation.

Focus on Core Scenarios such as UAVs: Providing Customized Sensing Solutions

The two newly launched laser ranging modules are especially optimized for the operational needs of autonomous UAV systems. In scenarios such as UAV inspection, surveying and mapping, and logistics and delivery, the modules can provide UAVs with real-time and accurate distance data, assisting UAVs in completing actions such as obstacle avoidance, altitude fixing, and precise hovering, thereby improving the safety and operational efficiency of autonomous flight.
